Why aren't people taking 2012 more seriously?

I'm just a 21 year old guy. I don't know much. But I have done the best research I can and I cannot deny that there is something to this. From Zacharia Sitchin's work in the Earth Chronicles, The Mayan and Sumerian "Myths," the Bible, human's fledgling understanding of metaphysics and other "fringe" sciences; which are becoming increasingly standardized; to the real crop circles popping up all around us, the mysteries of the world and space all finding a snug meaning in this "supposed" end. All of these things are there, and they're all pointing to this 2012. The History channels even talking about it. The current situation in the world is the tipping point, yet everyone seems to have nothing but sarcastic comments about it. It's a laughing stock on the news, the government is zipped up, and a vast majority of the people in the world find it to be BS. Why do I ask? I want to let people realize in themselves that they're not independent beings right now, and unless they understand the real level of deception, they can't hope to be. People throw around the word conspiracy without actual critical thought. It's a knee jerk reaction were programmed with, because to suggest an alternative to ones comfortable pseudo-reality is to make someone use there mind fearlessly, completely. In SUMMARY, I ask why aren't you people more concerned, not doing your homework, and why aren't we voluntarily severing our ties to this governed world, so we can more easily transition into our eminent natural one?
